Bell Orchestre Sign To Arts & Crafts

Bell Orchestre Sign To Arts & Crafts
Arts & Crafts' stable just got a chunk bigger this week, with the distinguished Canadian label announcing the signing of Montreal sextet Bell Orchestre. Via the home of Broken Social Scene, Feist, Constantines and many others, the Arcade Fire offshoot will release their forthcoming sophomore effort early next year and finally deliver a proper follow-up to the group's 2005 Juno-nominated debut, Recording a Tape the Colour of Light.

Besides the new label representation, we know the string-loving Bell Orchestre recorded the new album with Tortoise/Sea and Cake production wiz John McEntire at Chicago's Soma Electronic Music Studios. But other than that, the group are keeping rather mum on the record details, meaning at this point there's no album name, tracklisting, artwork or firm release date.

However, the press release tells us the band will spend much of early 2009 on the road in support of the new record and in fact, they have already leaked a trio of February tour dates, one of which finds them playing in Vancouver with fellow Montrealers Besnard Lakes.

While waiting on more details, here are those dates:

2/7 Guelph, ON - Sleeman Centre (Hillside Festival)
2/19 Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom *
2/26 Brooklyn, NY - Brooklyn Academy of Music

* with Besnard Lakes, Beast
