The Radio Dept. Play Canada on North American Tour, Share New Song
The Radio Dept. are back today with quite the update. Not only are the Swedish group sharing a new track, but they have announced a North American tour and a reissue of their beloved 2006 sophomore effort Pet Grief.

The Radio Dept.'s tour kicks off this spring, starting on April 26 in Washington, D.C. From there, the band will play a series of dates in the U.S. and in Canada. Dates north of the border include Montreal on April 30, Toronto on May 1 and Vancouver on May 7. Fellow Swedes Hater will lend opening support.

Tickets go on sale Friday (February 7) at 10 a.m. local time, and you can see the full schedule below.

As for that new track, it's called "The Absence of Birds." It includes the band's original version, as well as a cover by Civilistjävel!, marking the first Radio Dept. material we've got since 2018.

Speaking on the origin of the new song, the band said: "'The Absence of Birds' is a song about missing someone. And about forcing the hand of chance to make new and unexpected things happen. There's more to come this year, ten or more songs will be released in some way or another during 2020. Release formats to be decided from what we feel suits the songs."

Listen to "The Absence of Birds" below.

As for the Pet Grief reissue, the album will arrive on blue transparent vinyl through the band's own Just So! label, as well as come as a black vinyl edition that will be available at regular retailers. Both versions will come as a gatefold and have "gently remastered" audio.

The Just So! pre-orders will be shipped out in mid-March, with the normal retail version to follow.
