Sidney York Feel the Love

Sidney York Feel the Love
To call 2014 a landmark year for independent Calgary synth-pop duo Sidney York would be an understatement. With trips abroad (Singapore and Germany among them) and a highly successful five-part seven-inch subscription series (<3s, which was delivered in chunks throughout the year, and culminated with a full-length release this past February) under their belt, the classically trained, bassoon- and ukulele-wielding two-piece are poised to bring their sound to an even wider audience in 2015.

Things haven't slowed down for the eclectic group since their headlining Steam Whistle Unsigned set at Broken City last November, with the pair recently being selected by MakeFashion (an initiative that pairs high fashion designers with programmers to create wearable, electronic art) to perform at their upcoming fashion show and gala in Calgary on March 28.

"They approached us because they fell in love with our song 'Electrolove' and began using it as the theme song for MakeFashion," says Sidney York's Brandi Sidoryk. "From that relationship they're actually creating a custom line of wearable technology for us to wear on stage… and that will soon become a mainstay in our live performances."
