Published Dec 12, 2017Long-running pop eccentrics Cibo Matto have announced that they are no more. Via their socials, the duo of Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda announced that they are breaking up, with 2014's Hotel Valentine marking their final album.
Coming in the wake of 1999's Stereo Type A and 1996's classic Viva! La Woman, Hotel Valentine marked the duo's first album in 15 years. It also came after the group announced their reunion in 2011 following their initial breakup in 2002.
"Miho and Yuka will be doing their solo works and Hotel Valentine will be our last album," Cibo Matto wrote in a statement. "Hopefully you understand that this is a necessary and positive change for us. We will be going forward with our own endeavors, and we hope that we can stay in touch with you for the next part of the journey."
They also added, "Our band is over but we are not going away."
